After 15 regular season games, the Toronto-Leaside Junior Wildcats have an overall record of 6 wins, 7 losses and 2 ties in league play which keeps them in the middle of the pack in the PWHL standings.
The Jr Wildcats started this stretch of 5 league games with an overtime loss to Ottawa, where we came back from a two goal deficit to tie the game up and then lost in the extra frame. A loss in overtime still earns us one point in the standings. The Jr Wildcats had an explosion of offense in their next game, beating Kingston 6-0 which earned them 2 more points in the standings.
In their next two games, the Jr Wildcats faced the unbeaten 1st place team from Oakville and the 3rd place team from Whitby. The Wildcats suffered an 8-1 defeat at the hands of Oakville but rebounded with an excellent performance against Whitby. The team had a 3-2 lead late in the 3rd but Whitby turned on the offense and came away with the 4-3 win.
The Jr Wildcats then had the amazing opportunity to play against Team China on Tuesday November 18th. The stands were packed with fans and the game was a good one. The Jr Wildcats emerged with a 3-0 win as well as terrific memories from the international hockey experience. The Jr Wildcats rounded out their next 5 games of the season with a close contest against the Etobicoke team. The Wildcats outshot their opponents 34-23 but ended up losing 1-0 in what was a very close game featuring excellent goaltending for both teams.
The Jr Wildcats continue their season this weekend with a home game on Saturday Nov 29th vs Barrie and an away game on Sunday Nov 30th vs London.
