Just before the holiday break, the Jr Wildcats played 3 tough games. The team lost a tight 1-0 contest against Burlington Jr who scored in the final minute of the game for the win. The Leaside team then faced Stoney Creek a few days later and lost 4-0. The team closed out the 2014 portion of the regular season with another close loss to the Nepean Jr Wildcats at home 3-2.
Just before the break, the Jr Wildcats had a full day holiday celebration. The team started off the day visiting Ronald McDonald House in Toronto and donating a barrel full of gifts to the families of sick children who stay at the house while their children get treatment at the hospital. It was a wonderful experience for all involved and renewed the Jr Wildcats’ players and staff commitment to community involvement in the city. The team then held it’s own holiday party before heading off to watch assistant Coach Meg Bozek play for her CWHL team, the Toronto Furies, against Boston. The Jr Wildcats team made signs and cheered Meg and her team on to a 3-2 victory. It was a wonderful day overall and a great way to close out 2014.
The Leaside team started off the 2015 portion of the PWHL regular season with a hard fought 3-2 win over London at home. The team killed off 7 minutes of penalties in the last 10 minutes of the game to come away with the victory. With that win, the Jr Wildcats have a .500 win percentage on the season and are looking to build on that in the coming games.
The next Jr Wildcat games are Friday Jan 16th in Cambridge and on Sunday Jan 18th at 330pm at home vs Aurora.
