“It is a source of enormous pride that Toronto Leaside is able to add a Jr. Team to its program for the 2012-2013 season”, said Jennifer Smith, President of the Toronto Leaside Girls Hockey Association. “We thank the PWHL executive for their support of our application. We are excited to join the Kingston Jr. Ice Wolves as the 19th and 20th PWHL teams.”
At this time, the Toronto Leaside Wildcats are formally announcing the appointment of Annie Fahlenbock as the head coach of the Toronto Leaside Jr. Wildcats. Annie is herself a former Toronto Leaside Wildcat, who went on to play Division 1 NCAAA hockey at the University of New Hampshire. Upon her return to Toronto following university, Annie played in the NWHL and was its rookie of the year in 1998-99. In 2005 Annie started Fierce Hockey, a hockey development company that has trained players throughout Ontario.
Annie has been a head coach at Leaside for three years and is presently the coach of our Midget AA Wildcats. “I am ecstatic to be a part of Toronto Leaside’s first PWHL program”, said Fahlenbock. “This will further strengthen Toronto Leaside’s AA programs by providing an opportunity for players to compete at the highest level”.
John Hebert, Director of Player Development at the TLGHA, was the driving force behind the Toronto Leaside application. A former Midget AA and Bantam AA coach at Leaside, John now holds responsibility for the development of our Wildcats coaches and players.
