After 18 games of regular season play, the Toronto-Leaside Jr Wildcats have a record of 12 wins, 3 losses and 3 ties. This gives the team a 0.750 win percentage which is tied for 3rd highest in the league. This record puts the team in a 3 way tie for 3rd place in the league at the halfway point of the season. The Jr Wildcats are also currently tied for 1st overall in total number of shutouts with 7 in 18 games.
In 5 of the past 6 games, the Jr Wildcats faced off against opponents ranked in the top 5 of the league. They started this tough stretch with a solid 3-0 win at Mississauga. The next night, they lost 3-1 to Stoney Creek and followed that up with a 2-0 loss to Oakville in the next game. However, the team bounced back well in the next 3 games, gaining a point in an overtime loss to Whitby and then beating Mississauga again 1-0 in overtime the next day. The Jr Wildcats closed out the 6 games in 11 days by defeated Barrie on the road 1-0 in overtime.
The team will be competing in the USA Canada Cup in Kitchener this weekend and will then return home to Leaside Arena for their next PWHL league game on Saturday December 12th against Kitchener-Waterloo at 740pm. The team has 4 league games remaining before the holiday break and hope to continue to see the strong support from members of the community that we’ve had all season.
