After 34 games of regular season play, the Toronto-Leaside Jr Wildcats have a record of 21 wins, 4 losses and 9 ties. This gives the team a 0.750 win percentage which is the 3rd highest in the league. This record puts the team in 2nd place overall with 51 points with just 4 games left in the regular season.
The Jr Wildcats started this 4 game stretch with a hard fought 3-3 tie against the Toronto Aeros. The team then celebrated the accomplishments of their graduating players at a ceremony before their home game against the London Jr Devilettes. The evening was marked with a recognition ceremony for each of the 8 graduating players, who were awarded a commemorative plaque and a bouquet of roses from members of the Novice A Wildcats. The evening was capped by an exciting 3-2 victory over the visiting London team. The Jr Wildcats then went back on the road to face off against Burlington Jr in a mid-week game, winning 4-1, and then capped off the 4 game stretch with a overtime loss to Stoney Creek on the road. Overall, the team came up with 6 out of a possible 8 points in that stretch, securing home ice advantage for the playoffs in the process.
The next two games for the Jr Wildcats are on the road but in the GTA. The team plays at the Durham West Jr Lightning on Tuesday February 9th at 810pm (at Ajax Community Centre) and then against Brampton Jr Canadettes on Saturday February 13th at 215pm (at Century Gardens).
