After 12 games of play in the PWHL regular season, the Toronto-Leaside Jr Wildcats have a record of 9 wins, 1 loss and 2 ties. This gives the team a 0.833 win percentage which is the 3rd highest in the league. The Jr Wildcats currently sit in 7th place with 20 points, only 4 points back of the 1st place team with 2 games in hand.
Here’s a quick recap of the past 4 games. In the 9th game of the regular season, the Jr Wildcats took on the Etobicoke Jr Dolphins at Leaside Arena and won 3-1. The next day, they faced off against the Whitby Jr Wolves and lost their only game of the season thus far by a score of 2-1. Leaside was on the road again for the 11th game of the season to face Kingston. Despite outshooting their opponents 42-9, the Jr Wildcats only came out with a 1-1 tie. In their most recent game against the Aurora Jr Panthers, Leaside posted their 4th shutout of the year with a solid 3-0 win on the road.
In other Jr Wildcat news, team captain Cynthia Cavanagh won a bronze medal with Team Ontario Blue at the recent Under 18 National Championships. Cynthia was named an assistant captain of that team and showed great grit, speed and determination in helping Ontario Blue to a medal finish.
The Toronto-Leaside Jr Wildcats return to action this weekend, facing off against Mississauga on the road at 430pm on Saturday November 21st and returning home to play Stoney Creek on Sunday November 22nd at 330pm at Leaside Gardens. The game on the 22nd is the start of a 4 game home stand for the team and we hope that the Leaside community will come out to support us as we make our way through the middle of the regular season.
