The team started this 6 game stretch with a road trip to Ottawa to face the Lady Sens and the Nepean Wildcats. In the first game on the road, Leaside defeated Ottawa 3-1. The team lost a close one the following day 2-1 to Nepean. The team dropped the next game on the road as well up in Barrie 2-0. The Jr Wildcats then rebounded with 3 straight wins to finish the 6 game stretch – 1-0 over Waterloo on the road, 2-0 over Waterloo at home and finally a 4-1 win on the road vs Kingston. The Jr Wildcats hit the road this weekend for the final 3 games of the regular season and then head into the playoffs.
Both of the Jr Wildcats goalies continue to be in the top 10 of the league for goals against average and save percentage. Kate Stuart is currently leading the entire league with a 0.958 save percentage while Alysha Letwin sits in 6th place overall with a 0.940 save percentage. These numbers give our goalies the best combined save percentage in the entire league. Stuart sits in 3rd with a 1.00 goals against average and Letwin is in 7th with a 1.43 goals against average. Forward Kristin Della Rovere is currently 1st overall in goals scored with 21 goals and is 5th overall in league scoring with 34 points. Forward Quinn Johnston is 3rd in assists overall with 20 and is currently 9th in league scoring with 28 points. The team also has the 2nd lowest number of penalty minutes in the league and sits 1st overall for penalty kill percentage.
The Jr Wildcats celebrated the contributions of the 12 graduating players at the final home game of the regular season on Saturday February 10th.
