The Toronto-Leaside Junior and Midget AA Wildcats both had strong showings at the Stoney Creek Tournaments in September. The Midget AA team went undefeated, finishing 4-0 in round robin play. This put the team in 2nd place overall in their pool and allowed the team to compete for the silver medal championship. A 1-0 victory in the semi-finals earned the team a date with Oakville in the championship game. In that game, the team had their first defeat of the season, losing 3-0, and ultimately coming 2nd overall in the silver pool. The Midget AA team currently has a record of 8 wins and 1 loss in pre-season play.
The Junior team also had a strong showing at the Stoney Creek University Showcase tournament. The team finished with 3 wins and only 1 loss in round robin play, which put the team in 3rd place overall in their pool. This earned the team a match-up with Kingston in their 5th and final game which ended up as a 0-0 tie, giving the team a 3-1-1 record at the tournament. The team will now start their Provincial Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) regular season play on the road, facing Nepean and Ottawa in their first 2 games of the season. The Junior Wildcats’ home opener is on Wednesday September 25th at 855pm at Leaside Arena against Burlington. Come support the team as they start the season on our home ice.
