After 29 regular season games, the Toronto-Leaside Jr Wildcats have an overall record of 14 wins, 8 losses and 7 ties, good for 35 points in the standings and an overall win percentage of 0.603% in league play. The team currently sits in sole possession of 7th place overall with games in hand in the PWHL standings. The team boasts an overall record, including tournament and exhibition games, of 26 wins, 13 losses and 7 ties in 46 games played, for an overall winning percentage of 0.720%.
The team started the 2018 portion of the regular season with a 1-0 victory over Oakville. They followed that up with another 1-0 win against Stoney Creek the following day. The team dropped the next two games to Brampton & Stoney Creek on the road, ending the team’s league-leading 7 game winning streak. The team returned home for game 28, losing again to Barrie, but snapped the 3 game skid with a 3-1 victory of Southwest.
Both of the Jr Wildcats goalies continue to be in the top 10 of the league for goals against average and save percentage. Forward Kristin Della Rovere is currently 2nd overall in goals scored and is 4th overall in league scoring. Forward Quinn Johnston is 7th in assists overall and is currently 13th in league scoring. The team also has the 2nd lowest number of penalty minutes in the league and sits in 8th overall for power-play percentage and 1st overall for penalty kill percentage.
The Jr Wildcats hit the road this weekend for two games in Ottawa and then plays two more games on the road the following weekend in Barrie and Kitchener. The team returns for their final home game of the regular season, where we will celebrate our 11 graduating seniors, on Saturday February 10th at 740pm at Leaside Arena.
